About Monday Moanin'

Since 1999, David Smith has sent out a weekly essay to friends and family on Monday mornings.  Since Mondays can be a challenging day, each week's message is aimed at making the day a little brighter.  Monday Moanin' is sometimes humorous, sometimes thought provoking, but always intended as an encouraging and uplifting message to start the week.

Hundreds of readers from all over the world have written in response to the Monday Moanin'.  Here are just a few samples:

Greetings from the fuzzy image in the mirror,

There are some hard and fast rules in life that should never be messed with.

Some people say that glasses can make you look smarter.  I did not research that at all, just hoping that there would be some truth in it since I wear glasses whenever I read things, write things or look at things.  Glasses may help you look smarter, but there is no guarantee they will help you act smarter.

My doctor says I’m pre-presbyopic, which I thought was a protestant sect sort of like the Reformed church.  In fact it describes that my eyes are getting worse as I get older.  The way to resolve this optical deficiency is to wear glasses that somehow distort the world into a shape I can see.  It’s kind of like magic, meaning I don’t understand the explanation I’ve been given.

This week it was suggested by my life coach that I should wear contact lenses.  She said that it would be more convenient, enhance my active lifestyle and perhaps help me not look so old.

I am against this idea for two very good reasons, which are my left eye and my right eye.  That brings me to the hard and fast rule I have: Never Touch Your Eyes.
